New Year, New Start?
Working in schools it is always funny to think of New Year as, as a Teacher, a New Year often starts in Septemberโฆ a new class, possibly a new classroom or year group, new responsibilities. Children move up into their next class, get a new teacher and work with new adults and as they move on to secondary school, may be with new classmates, etc. So many changes happen in September for children and in schools that when we come to the New Year in January, it is often less of an impact for children (and staff for that matter).
It does make us think, however, about what โnewโ means. Almost a fresh look at things, something different, things that we donโt know yet. It then makes me reflect on unknowns, nice ones and not so nice ones, changes and things to come. After the last 5 years as a world we saw how much we canโt predict the future and as a school, we have certainly had a number of changes that we wouldnโt have predicted. Through all of the unknowns though, I donโt think Iโve ever been prouder to work at a school where children, staff and families are all working together to improve things and look after each other, even in difficult times and when things may not go the way you planned it.
For 2025, my wish for all of our school and wider families, is that we can find the joy in the little things and celebrate the amazing achievements of our children every day! Each day is a new adventure, a blank page for us to write how we want - our actions and words create how they go! Letโs make them great ones!

Good Attendance Draw!!
Donโt forget, for every week that your child has an attendance of 96%+, they are allocated a digital ticket for a draw that will take place every half term. The more weeks with an attendance of 96%+, the more chances to win!

World Festivals and Celebrations
BIRTHDAY OF SWAMI VIVEKANANDA - 12th January
Born Narendra Nath Datta in 1863 in Calcutta, he was an Indian Hindu monk who became the chief disciple of the 19th century saint Ramakrishna. Vivekananda, as he became known, was a key figure in the introduction of the Indian philosophies of Vedanta and Yoga to the Western world and helped to develop Hinduism during the latter part of the 19th century to the stage where it held the status of a major world religion. He died in 1902. He pioneered the development of the Ramakrishna Mission and the creation of the Ramakrishna Vedanta Centre movement first in India and then throughout the world, travelling widely and emphasising the devotional and social aspects of the teaching and practice of his beloved Guru, Ramakrishna.
Look at all of the things we have been getting up to in the last 2 weeks:
I canโt quite believe we are over half way through January already! At points, I really do have to sit back and have a moment to think about everything that goes on in a week and all that is achieved! Since returning, Miss Tanner and I have been meeting with all of the teachers to look at how well the children are doing and there have been so many positive conversations had, it has been great to see and hear how well the children are doing in all aspects of school life.
Mr Lane has returned and we have been glad to have him back, he will be slowly building up his time, and will be back with us full time by the end of January and I know that many of our families (and staff!) have been glad to see him back with us and well enough to be in work.
It was nice (and sad at the same time to say goodbye) to get a visit from Mr Sharp this week. He spent time with all of the children and we got to give him some gifts to mark his time at All Saints. I am sure that he will pop in from time to time to see the children and staff and he will always be welcome (even if the children tell him all about what we are getting up to while he isnโt here!!!).
Thank you for everyoneโs flexibility and understanding to the new arrangements at the end of the day for Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. We want to ensure that children are as safe as possible at transition times and it was felt that this change was needed. Bear with us while we make it work but rest assured, at the centre of all we do is the childrenโs best interests.
Next week promises to be exciting with Year 5 heading to Jodrell Bank and Year 4 preparing for their Class Assembly!
Lastly, can I please remind parents and carers about the importance of the children being here for the start of the school day. Children coming through the school office is not only disruptive for the child themselves but staff at the start of the day and is preventing learning taking place. Punctuality and Attendance has been low the last 2 weeks and we will be working with parents to ensure absence and lates are as low as possible. If you are struggling, please do arrange a meeting with either myself or Miss Caveney through the school office.
