Summer Holidays

It may be my age but every school year I feel is disappearing quicker and quicker! It shows the importance of every minute counting in school.

As we are so very near the end of this school year, I feel it is so important to recognise the achievements of this year and how far the children have come as well as looking forward to the new school year. This often brings different emotions, excitement of what is to come, nerves for the unknown and sadness of leaving behind what we know. Really, it is a lot to expect for children to process and the summer holidays are often the time for these emotions so you as parents have the job of navigating this the most.

Young Minds offer some suggestions of how we can support in the best way: https://www.youngminds.org.uk/parent/parents-a-z-mental-health-guide/transitions-and-times-of-change/

I really hope that everyone has a lovely summer and the children all have a fantastic summer holiday (fingers crossed we continue to get some sun!). However, not to be negative, I also know how much pressure we often put on ourselves to make things perfect.

Having holidays with family are often the most valuable time in a child’s life but often we don’t need to go overboard with the plans - just having time with family is enough!

The children have all worked so hard this year and certainly deserve the well earned rest (as do the staff!).

The summer holidays are sometimes difficult for a number of reasons: a long time out of routine; childcare; money worries; and much more.

Try not to put too much pressure on yourselves. If you have a bad day, start again the day after. Not everything you do needs to cost money. Children are often so happy spending time with their parents, going for walks, exploring, playing board games and often just snuggled up watching a film.

Time goes so quickly and before you know it, it will be September and we will be starting the new school year again. As parents, we don’t get many of these and they grow up before we know it. Enjoy the precious summer with your children and we cannot wait to see them back in September ready to learn and continue to grow!

Often in the summer it is difficult to find ideas of things to do (especially with younger ones) - this app is a great resource of ideas of things to do - click on the picture above for more information.

Attendance and punctuality has not been the best this last half term. While we understand that illness happens, we ask all parents to make sure that they are ensuring that whenever possible, children are in school and on time. It makes a difference to not only your child’s academic achievements but also, confidence and social and emotional confidence.

Good Attendance Draw!!

Don’t forget, for every week that your child has an attendance of 96%+, they are allocated a digital ticket for a draw that will take place every half term. The more weeks with an attendance of 96%+, the more chances to win!

Look at some of the things we have been getting up to in the last 2 weeks (remember to keep checking Seesaw and Class Dojo for class updates):

It was great to see the children move up to their new classes this week and meet their new teachers! I do love hearing all of the stories! Also, Year 6 enjoyed their Prom yesterday and we would like to thank all of the parents and families who helped to make this possible.

Next week is about preparation for the next step and the biggest of these is for Year 6 who will be leaving us to move to their new schools. We wish them all the luck in the world and hope that they come back and tell us just how well they are getting on! That is what our job is about at Primary school, getting children ready for that next step in their journey 💖.

I would like to say that in being successful in getting the post of Headteacher at All Saints this term, I am very much looking forward to continuing to work with yourselves to make our school the best place it can be for our children and families. Working together we will always be stronger.

I am pleased to announce that from September, Mrs Casey will be taking on the role of Deputy Headteacher in our school. She will be continuing her class teacher role in the morning in Year 6. I would like to take the opportunity to formally congratulate Mrs Casey on her appointment in this new role.

I wish you all a fantastic summer, once it comes, and wish all of our Year 6 moving on, a successful transition into their new schools.

If anyone needs to get in touch with staff over the holidays, please direct any communication through the enquiries email (enquiries@allsaintsnh-pri.manchester.sch.uk) to protect the non-contact time of staff. We will always aim to get back to you as soon as possible through this and will be monitoring the inbox regularly.

Lastly, thank you for your continuing support in ensuring we can provide the best possible education for your children - without you, we couldn’t do it!

Mrs Flatman
