Year 6 World Book Day Spike Milligan Poetry

On "World Book Day" (Thursday 7th March 2013) we had great fun in class looking at the poetry of Spike Milligan. We studied and used one of his most famous poems "On The Ning Nang Nong" as our inspiration for writing poems in a similar nonsense style.... enjoying having the opportunity to use made up and and phrases!

Quiz Club Competition, Monday 11th February 2013.

qjuiz club 2013

"Quiz Club" is a National schools general knowledge quiz competition, and two teams from All Saints took part in one of the Manchester heats, held at Chorlton CE Primary School in Chorlton.

There were two teams: Team 1 who finished 4th overall with a great total of 1355 points (only 10 points behind the 3rd place team from Brookburn School), and Team 2 who finished 7th with a total of 1125 points. The heat was won by Simmondley Primary School's team with an enormous total of 1830 points! Both teams from All Saints did really well, coping with two late withdrawals due to illness on the day, and the two very late replacements performed admirably!

All 8 children represented the school brilliantly, and we are already looking forward to entering next year's competition.

Year 6 Planets Project

In a recent Project with Mr Kenna, Year 6 produced these excellent drawings and played the sound using traditional instruments.

Year 5 & 6 BMX Arena Visit

On Tuesday 22nd January 2013 Mr Keogh took 12 children from Years 5 and 6 to the Indoor BMX Arena at the National Cycling Centre for a two hour track session, following the successful completion of a Passport to Sport BMX Coaching Programme in school before last half term.

The children did really well, moving onto the smaller of the two starting ramps (including using the starting gate) by the end of the session, impressing the coach with their skills and talents. There were a few thrills and spills and bumps and bruises along the way, but everyone returned to school in one piece!
