RAAC Updates

โ€œFollowing an inspection by the Department for Education, we received guidance on the afternoon of Thursday 31st August 2023 that we should not use our school hall due to the presence of RAAC-type concrete in the roofing.โ€

โ€œHowever, we were delighted to reopen the rest of the school to our pupils on Tuesday 5th September 2023, and there was no disruption to classes. Alternative provision was organised for activities that would ordinarily occupy our school hall, such as assemblies, PE lessons and lunchtimes.โ€

โ€œWith support from the Manchester Diocesan Board of Education and our building consultants, we formulated plans to mitigate the risks of the RAAC panels in the hall roof so that the space could be reopened safely, and we have been in regular contact with the DfE.โ€

It has been a real joy to see the children return to their friends and school staff after the summer break, and in the week beginning 20th November 2023 we were delighted to safely reopen the hall.

๐Ÿฆบ Temporary Safety Measures Work

Starting on Saturday 21st October 2023, work got underway to construct a full timber deck sitting directly underneath the RAAC panels which will now stop any of them falling to the floor in the very unlikely circumstance that they were to fail. All lighting and other services have been dropped down and fitted to the new ceiling.

The hall is now back in full use and will remain in place until the school is rebuilt.

๐Ÿ—๏ธ New School

We are very pleased and excited that a fifth All Saints school building is to be constructed as part of the Schools Rebuilding Programme, and will replace the current building over the next few years. We are working closely with the DfE and the Manchester Diocesan Board of Education on the plans and next steps.
