Rights Respecting Schools Award (RRSA)
Our school is at the beginning of an exciting journey and partnership with UNICEF, which will involve learning all about the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and eventually making the 54 ‘Articles’ in the convention a normal, everyday part of our school life.
Mrs Tennant and Mr Keogh have attended three training days, which have involved learning all about the Convention and how it can help transform the way in which we work as a school – in all areas of school life.
We have already demonstrated our commitment to the award by obtaining the ‘Rights Committed’ Bronze level, which involved submitting an action plan outlining what we need to do in order to move to the ‘Rights Aware’ Silver level. A UNICEF representative will assess this during a visit to the school in the next academic year. Within two years, we hope to achieve the Gold level of the award meaning we would be a fully fledged ‘Rights Respecting’ School.
Mr Keogh has led a whole school assembly for the children about the UNCRC and training has been delivered for the teaching staff, making them aware of the requirements of the award. As a school, we’re really excited about moving forwards with the RRSA and can’t wait to see how it improves All Saints even further!
