Dear Parents / Carers,
I am writing to let you know about World Book Day that is coming up on Thursday 3rd March. In addition to the usual interesting and exciting book related activities that will be taking place in your child’s classrooms, we will be having a whole day visit by best selling children’s/teenage author Sarah Oliver (visit her website http://saraholiverauthor.co.uk for more information) and on the day she will be delivering a whole school assembly, in addition to spending some time with each class throughout the remainder of the school day.
Here’s a brief biography of Sarah in her own words:
“I’m a journalist and author with a passion for Twilight, One Direction and rags to riches stories. I began writing books six years ago and I’m already the bestselling author of ‘One Direction A-Z’ which reached number 2 in the Sunday Times bestseller list and spent three weeks in the paperback non-fiction top 40. I’m also the author of ‘Robert Pattinson A-Z’ which has sold more than 20,000 copies and which resulted in the creation of a successful best-selling series of A-Z books aimed at children and adults.
I have a MA in Professional Writing from University College Falmouth and was winner of the 2006 ‘Write Now, Act Later’ scriptwriting award. I have also been the editor of the popular website My Park Magazine. During my time as editor, visits to the site quadrupled as my news page gathered 250,000 page views per day. In total, over 10 million people viewed my articles during my time running the magazine.
My other One Direction books include ‘Around the World with One Direction’ and the dual biographies ‘Harry Styles vs Niall Horan’ and ‘Zayn Malik vs Liam Payne’. My latest books, all published by John Blake, are ‘Zayn: New Direction’ and ‘Robert Pattinson: The Biography’.”
Sarah will also be bringing a selection of her books into school on the day for our children to purchase at the reduced price of £6. Unfortunately, the free World Book Day £1 tokens that your child will be receiving can’t be put towards the price of purchasing one of Sarah’s books. If your child will be buying one of Sarah’s books, could they please bring the money into school on the day in a named envelope.
We’re looking forward to a great day in school with Sarah on World Book Day! Thanks (as always) for your continued and valued support.
